Baptisms & Blessings

The gift of a child is one of the most precious of God’s miracles and we’re always thrilled to be able to share with parents in celebrating that gift.

There are two services in the Church which offer the chance to give thanks to God and ask His blessing on a child. The first is Baptism, where parents choose the Christian faith for their child, and promise to bring them up as Christians; the second is a Blessing and Thanksgiving, often called “Christening”, where your child is given godparents and their Christian name, but the choice to follow the Christian faith is left to your child in later life.

Baptisms take place during the 10.30am All Age Communion Service on the second Sunday of each month. Blessing and Thanksgiving Services can usually be arranged for a Sunday afternoon to suit the family.

To discuss which of these is the most appropriate service for you, please contact the Parish Administrator.

Weddings

We’re delighted if you’re thinking of getting married in our beautiful church.

We’d like to make the process as stress-free as possible for you. If you’d like to have a look around the building we can arrange to meet you there and answer any questions you may have.

If you’ve already arranged your wedding elsewhere and need your Banns to be read, please email or telephone the church.

Who can marry at St. Andrew’s?

Normally, if one or both partners live within the parish boundaries of St. Andrew’s it is possible to get married here.

In some situations (such as where one partner has been previously married) it will be necessary to talk through your particular situation with the parish priest. Equally, if neither partner lives in the parish, you may still have some connection to St. Andrew’s that might allow your wedding to take place here.

Please contact the Parish Administrator for more information or to discuss further.

Funerals

A church funeral service offers you hope in the risen Christ as you remember and give thanks for your departed loved one. We are here to help you every step of the way through this difficult time and offer support before, during and after the service.

It is also possible to hold a memorial service in church in memory of someone who died, possibly some time ago. You do not need to involve a Funeral Director for a memorial service – we can arrange all the details for you.

Please contact the Parish Administrator.
