Worship for the 1st Sunday after Trinity – 14th June

AS WE JOIN TOGETHER IN WORSHIP FOR EVERYONE, IT MAY HELP US TO FOCUS ON OUR YOUNG PEOPLE WHO USUALLY TAKE SUCH AN ACTIVE, LEADING ROLE IN THIS MONTHLY SERVICE. WE GIVE THANKS FOR YOU & MISS BEING ABLE TO WORSHIP WITH YOU!
AS USUAL YOU WILL FIND THE READINGS FOR TODAY ON THE PEWSHEET.

HYMN (said or sung)
Colours of day dawn into the mind,
The sun has come up, the night is behind,
Go down in the city, into the street,
And let’s give the message to the people we meet.

So light up the fire and let the flame burn,
Open the door, let Jesus return,
Take seeds of His Spirit, let the fruit grow,
Tell the people of Jesus, let His love show.

Go through the park, on into the town,
The sun still shines on, it never goes down,
The Light of the world is risen again,
The people of darkness are needing our friend.

Open your eyes, look into the skies,
The darkness has gone, the Son came to die,
The evening draws on, the sun disappears,
But Jesus is living, His Spirit is near.

WE PREPARE TO WORSHIP BY SAYING
Loving Lord, your grace draws us to your presence; your peace unites us in your love; your hope inspires us to praise your glory. May our worship be worthy of you. Amen.
We come before you, gracious God, just as we are. We come with our weaknesses and our vulnerabilities. We come with our fears and apprehensions. We come with faith and doubt. We come to offer and receive. We come to you, the King of Love – in the name of your Son, and in the power of your Spirit. Amen

THE FIRST SCRIPTURE READING ROMAN 5:1-8

Hymn (said or sung)
For I’m building a people of power
and I’m making a people of praise,
that will move through this land by my Spirit
and will glorify my precious name.

Build Your church, Lord,
make us strong, Lord, join our hearts, Lord, through Your Son
Make us one, Lord, in Your Body
In the kingdom of Your Son.

THE GOSPEL READING, MATTHEW 9:35-10:8

REFLECTION

WE SAY WHAT WE BELIEVE
We believe in God the Father from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named. We believe in God the Son who lives in our hearts through faith and fills us with his love. We believe in God the Holy Spirit who strengthens us with power from on high. We believe in one God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.

WE SAY SORRY TO GOD AND KNOW THAT WE ARE FORGIVEN
In a dark and disfigured world, we have not held out the light of life: Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy
In a hungry and despairing world, we have failed to share our bread: Christ, have mercy Christ, have mercy
In a cold and loveless world, we have kept the love of God to ourselves: Lord, have mercy Lord, have mercy

May God who loved the world so much that he sent his son to be our Saviour forgive us our sins and make us holy to serve him in the world, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Hymn (said or sung)
Be still, for the presence of the Lord
The Holy One is here
Come bow before him now,
With reverence and fear.
In him no sin is found,
we stand on Holy Ground.
Be still for the presence of the Lord
the Holy One is here.

Be still for the glory of the Lord
is shining all around:
he burns with holy fire,
with splendour he is crowned.
How awesome is the sight,
our radiant King of light!
Be still for the glory of the Lord
is shining all around

Be still for the power of the Lord
is moving in this place.
He comes to cleanse and heal,
to minister His grace.
No work too hard for Him,
in faith receive from Him
Be still for the power of the Lord
Is moving in this place

WE PRAY FOR OURSELVES AND OTHERS
Lord Jesus, we are your disciples and you call us to build your kingdom of love and peace in our world. We pray for the world and for all the peoples and situations which need your healing. We are your disciples; make us one in you.
We pray for those whom you have called to serve us during COVID -19 especially for doctors, nurses, carers, key workers and many more.
We are your disciples; make us one in you.
We pray for those who serve you in the church and for all the members of St Andrew’s, that we may soon be worshipping together. We are your disciples; make us one in you.
We pray for those who serve you by telling your story of forgiveness and love – help us to show your love and forgiveness by our own acts of kindness and generosity. We are your disciples; make us one in you.
We pray for own discipleship, that we may face our own challenges with courage. We remember all those named on our pew sheets who are suffering or in danger or distress.
We are your disciples; make us one in you.
We pray for all those who have recently died and remember Fiona Macrae. We are your disciples; make us one in you.
May our fellowship and service, day by day, help to build your promised kingdom.
In your name, we pray. Amen.

WE SAY THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread; forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.

The Peace:
Jesus said: Love one other. As I have loved you, so you are to love one other. The peace of the Lord be always with us all.
WE SHARE A SIGN OF PEACE WITH PEOPLE OF FAITH ALL OVER THE WORLD BY CLASPING OUR HANDS TOGETHER, & BOWING OUR HEADS SAYING SHALOM.

Hymn

The Spirit lives to set us free,
Walk, walk in the light;
He binds us all in unity,
Walk, walk in the light. Walk in the light (X 3) Walk in the light of the Lord.

Jesus promised life to all,
Walk, walk in the light;
The dead were wakened by his call,
Walk, walk in the light.

He died in pain on Calvary,
Walk, walk in the light;
To save the lost like you and me,
Walk, walk in the light.

We know his death was not the end,
Walk, walk in the light;
He gave his Spirit to be our friend,
Walk, walk in the light.

By Jesus’ love our wounds are healed,

Walk, walk in the light.

The Father’s kindness is revealed.

Walk, walk in the light.

The Spirit lives in you and me,
Walk, walk in the light;
His light will shine for all to see,
Walk, walk in the light.

The Blessing
May the love of the Lord Jesus draw us to himself, the power of the Lord Jesus strengthen us to his service, the joy of the Lord Jesus fill our hearts and may the blessing of God, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit be with us all evermore. Amen.
Let us go in peace to love and serve the Lord. In the name of Christ. Amen.
